Miss Amanda's Clique

Paris December 99

I never learned to turn the tables,
I sure did learn to clean the sink.
You don't know just what you are able
till you join Miss Amanda's Clique.
Wasn't the gig I thought I'd get,
10000 dollars on the table,
new deck of cards,
all eyes on check,
hands foldin' five and whisky glasses
Washer boy hurry, set the table,
fancy folk comin' in for a drink.
Washer boy curses,
the dishes are not
quite like they seem
to be clean but they're not.
Curtains of lace and velvet
clipped around the walls of Mandy Jones's
clipped around the walls of Mandy Jones's
High stakes and calls,
high bluff and jinxes:
pretty soon lying by the table...
Shouldn't o' carried seven aces in his pocket,
he wouldn't of ended in the mud.
I never did learn to turn the tables,
I sure did learn to clean the sink.
I sure did learn to clean the sink
.
